Slacker

Gosh, I feel like such a slacker! I have not posted in SO long. I promise I will try to keep up with this blog from here on out.

I am now 25w5d. Still feeling great! We found out on Feb 13th that we are having a BOY!! Heartrate was 153 at the u/s and everything looked great! All the chambers of the heart were idenitified and all the measurments looked right on track. The tech actually said baby was measuring 2 weeks ahead.
Chad came out of the u/s room and yelled to the entire waiting room that we were having a boy! We are so excited!!!
After the appt we went over our parents house to share the exciting news and show them the 7 u/s pics we got!

1/13/09

I am 15w4d and I am still feeling great!! I am getting a little energy back, which is nice. I am starting to get a little belly. My clothes are still fitting fine and I probably still have a few more weeks left until I have to get maternity clothes.

We go back to the Dr's on 1/27/09 and hopefully we will schedule our BIG u/s while we are there.

Heard the heartbeat for the first time!!!

12/29/08- went to the Dr's again for a check up. She was going to check for the heartbeat and before she was ready she said, It may take a few minutes to find, "Nope!" As soon as she put the doppler on my belly, we heard the heartbeat, loud and clear!!! It was so amazing!! My H and I were in awe the whole way home!!

Told our Parents!!

Fri. 12/19 we had plans to go over my parents for dinner. We both took the day off because I had my second u/s appt in the morning. So we figured we'd go to the u/s and then do a little shopping for Christmas.
The u/s went great! Baby is looking good and the hb was 160 bpm. I can not believe how much bigger baby got since our last u/s, only 4 weeks prior. The baby is measuring 2" in length. The little hand and feet buds are forming, along with other organs.
The tech printed out 3 pics for us to keep. I guess I will get the results on Monday if I still have a subchoronic hemmorage.

After we got home from shopping, Chad had to run out to do something for work, so I took a ride to Hallmark to get a "Grandparents" frame to put the u/s pic in to give to my parents.

Once we arrived at my parents house, they told us there was going to be suprise guests for dinner. We kept thinking of who they might be, and then Chad figured it out that it was most likely his parents....and he was right!

After dinner our parents gave us an early Christmas present, a laptop! We were really excited to receive that as a gift. Our parents are so generous! I have been wanting one, but they are expensive and I didn't see the need to spend the $ when we do have a computer upstairs. But, this will be more convienent, especially when baby arrives.
A little later in the evening, we decided it was a perfect time to my parents their gift. (We only had a gift for them because we didn't know his parents would be there). So, as my mom was sitting on the floor, Chad hands her the present and tells her to open it now, because she will need it before Christmas. He told his parents their gift was at home because we weren't expecting them to be there as well.
So, my mom opens the box and then unwrapped the tissue paper that the frame was in. She immediately started to cry and Linda, my mother-in-law, kept shouting, "Oh my Gosh!", even though she didn't know what my mom was crying about. After a minute, my mom got up and sat next to her and showed my mother-in-law the frame with the u/s pic in it. She was also very happy to hear the good news! Just so happened that when Chad gave my mom the present, my dad went in the bathroom, so he missed the inital reaction, but could hear all the comotion in the family room. He had thought Sadie threw up or something:)
Denny and my dad were also very excited and they hugged and our mom's were crying, along with me.

It was a great night and turned out to be even better because we were able to share our good news with both sets of parents on the same night!!

First Appt

Dec 2nd was my first appt with the Nurse Practitioner. I had to fill out a bunch of paperwork, family history, ect. Then I was called back to the room. The MA gets my BP and weight and then hands me a cup to pee in. So, I go do my thing and then go back in the room and wait for the NP.
The appt went very well and I really liked the NP. She answered all my questions and gave me a slip to get a repeat u/s in 4 weeks and told me to make a follow up in 4 weeks.
So, that means I will be having my second u/s right before Christmas! Yay, I get to see the baby again and hopefully get to hear the HB. My H will be coming with me for this u/s. I am going to schedule that right before X-mas and my follow up appt with the NP will be 12/29.

Nov 22nd

Ryan my Godson is turning 5 on Monday the 24th so Sharon had his party the Sat before his b-day. My H and I still hadn't told anyone the knews and were debating on whether to tell Sharon and Amy O that day at the party.
My friend Sharon had recently had her second, Carly, on 10/28/08 and this would be the first time seeing her since she was born. Which I might add, Amy O and I got to spend time with her in the NICU for about a half hour the day she was born. It meant so much to me that the first time my best friend held her baby, we were there in the nursery with her! What a beautiful baby, weighing in at a whopping 10lb 1oz!
So, back to the party...Sharon made a couple references throughout the day that Carly needed a playmate!! So, at the end of the night after most of the guests had gone home, I decided to tell Sharon and Amy the good news. We were all sitting by the door and I told them that I had something to tell them. I then told them that Carly will have a playmate in July! They were both so happy and Sharon was crying! They had no idea I was about to announce the news and they were both excited for us:)

We still can't decide if we are telling our family on Thanksgiving (I will be 9 weeks, or wait until Christmas! Decisions, decisions.

Plus, I have ideas on how we want to tell the Grandparents to be.
For my parents, I want to get my mom a frame(and put the U/S pic it it) that says "Great Mom's are promoted to Grandmom's" from Hallmark. For my Dad, I saw a onsie on cafe press that said, "My Grandpop has more tools than you".

For C's parents I was thinking of doing the same, just a variation on the onsie for his dad. I think his mom would love the frame idea as well, so that is a great idea for both of our mom's.

Ultrasound!!

Sat, Nov 15th I woke up to some spotting and it went on throughout the day. It went on again Sunday, but not as much. It was also very light and I didn't have any cramping associated with it so I took it easy on Sunday, just to be safe.

Called the office on Monday and didn't hear back from the nurse that day so I followed up on Tues and called Donna. She had to check with the NP about bringing me in for an U/S. Finally it was confirmed, I had to go in for an U/S. She would set up my appt at Larchmont Imaging for Fri 11/21 because that was the only morning I could go in late to work. She told me I had to drink 32oz of water for the U/S and she would fax my script over to Larchmont.
Tues, Wed, and Thurs I could hardly sleep at all. I was nervous and wanted everything to be ok at the U/S. Afterall, this is my first pregnancy and I was nervous about the spotting. I didn't really know what was normal or not.
Considering my H and I were the only one's (besides my best friend in OH) who knew about the pregnancy I didn't have anyone to call for advice.

Friday morning comes and we wake up to a light snowfall on the ground! What a beautiful way to start the morning!
I get up, get a shower, get ready and grab my 6 water bottles and am on my way out the door. I seem to have drank 4 bottles on my way to the U/S and with every bump I hit, I thought I was going to pee my pants. How the heck do they expect a pregnant woman (who has to pee every half hour anyway!) to drink 32oz and hold it for the U/S. Ahhhh.....well I did it!
So I check in, then go sit and wait for my name to be called....I was really nervous at that point and thought I would throw up right there in the waiting room. At this point in my pregnancy I have been lucky enough to not experience MS, which is a great thing!

A few minutes later I hear my name called. I go back into this little room and am nervous as hell. The tech tells me to take my pants and shoes off and hop up on the table and she would be back in a few. Sooo...she comes back and tells me everything she is going to do. So, she puts the gell on my belly and starts moving the wand around and hitting buttons on the machine. I didn't know if that was a good thing or bad thing. I was laying there still (for what seemed like an eternity) and then she flips the screen where I could see it and says, "Here is your baby!" She must have thought I didn't have a care in the world because I was speechless! Then a few seconds later she said, "And, here's the heartbeat!" The hb was a strong 143 bpm and she said everything was looking GREAT! YAY!!!!!! A huge sigh of relief! She then printed out two pics and told me I could get dressed and be on my way. She was very nice and made my first U/S experience a very happy and memorable one.
