Ryan my Godson is turning 5 on Monday the 24th so Sharon had his party the Sat before his b-day. My H and I still hadn't told anyone the knews and were debating on whether to tell Sharon and Amy O that day at the party.
My friend Sharon had recently had her second, Carly, on 10/28/08 and this would be the first time seeing her since she was born. Which I might add, Amy O and I got to spend time with her in the NICU for about a half hour the day she was born. It meant so much to me that the first time my best friend held her baby, we were there in the nursery with her! What a beautiful baby, weighing in at a whopping 10lb 1oz!
So, back to the party...Sharon made a couple references throughout the day that Carly needed a playmate!! So, at the end of the night after most of the guests had gone home, I decided to tell Sharon and Amy the good news. We were all sitting by the door and I told them that I had something to tell them. I then told them that Carly will have a playmate in July! They were both so happy and Sharon was crying! They had no idea I was about to announce the news and they were both excited for us:)
We still can't decide if we are telling our family on Thanksgiving (I will be 9 weeks, or wait until Christmas! Decisions, decisions.
Plus, I have ideas on how we want to tell the Grandparents to be.
For my parents, I want to get my mom a frame(and put the U/S pic it it) that says "Great Mom's are promoted to Grandmom's" from Hallmark. For my Dad, I saw a onsie on cafe press that said, "My Grandpop has more tools than you".
For C's parents I was thinking of doing the same, just a variation on the onsie for his dad. I think his mom would love the frame idea as well, so that is a great idea for both of our mom's.

Ultrasound!!

Sat, Nov 15th I woke up to some spotting and it went on throughout the day. It went on again Sunday, but not as much. It was also very light and I didn't have any cramping associated with it so I took it easy on Sunday, just to be safe.
Called the office on Monday and didn't hear back from the nurse that day so I followed up on Tues and called Donna. She had to check with the NP about bringing me in for an U/S. Finally it was confirmed, I had to go in for an U/S. She would set up my appt at Larchmont Imaging for Fri 11/21 because that was the only morning I could go in late to work. She told me I had to drink 32oz of water for the U/S and she would fax my script over to Larchmont.
Tues, Wed, and Thurs I could hardly sleep at all. I was nervous and wanted everything to be ok at the U/S. Afterall, this is my first pregnancy and I was nervous about the spotting. I didn't really know what was normal or not.
Considering my H and I were the only one's (besides my best friend in OH) who knew about the pregnancy I didn't have anyone to call for advice.
Friday morning comes and we wake up to a light snowfall on the ground! What a beautiful way to start the morning!
I get up, get a shower, get ready and grab my 6 water bottles and am on my way out the door. I seem to have drank 4 bottles on my way to the U/S and with every bump I hit, I thought I was going to pee my pants. How the heck do they expect a pregnant woman (who has to pee every half hour anyway!) to drink 32oz and hold it for the U/S. Ahhhh.....well I did it!
So I check in, then go sit and wait for my name to be called....I was really nervous at that point and thought I would throw up right there in the waiting room. At this point in my pregnancy I have been lucky enough to not experience MS, which is a great thing!
A few minutes later I hear my name called. I go back into this little room and am nervous as hell. The tech tells me to take my pants and shoes off and hop up on the table and she would be back in a few. Sooo...she comes back and tells me everything she is going to do. So, she puts the gell on my belly and starts moving the wand around and hitting buttons on the machine. I didn't know if that was a good thing or bad thing. I was laying there still (for what seemed like an eternity) and then she flips the screen where I could see it and says, "Here is your baby!" She must have thought I didn't have a care in the world because I was speechless! Then a few seconds later she said, "And, here's the heartbeat!" The hb was a strong 143 bpm and she said everything was looking GREAT! YAY!!!!!! A huge sigh of relief! She then printed out two pics and told me I could get dressed and be on my way. She was very nice and made my first U/S experience a very happy and memorable one.

Fast Forward
To Monday morning.... I called the Dr's office and the receptionist asked me a few questions before scheduling me. She also offered her Congratulations, which I thought was nice. Based on my LMP of 9/26/08, she scheduled me for my first appointment with the Nurse Practicioner for 12/2/08. She explained that your first appointment is always with the NP, then from then on you will meet a different Dr at each appointment. The first appointment is to get Family History, do's and dont's and ask any questions we may have.
Four long weeks until I see someone! Hopefully it will fly by!

November 5th
That was the day I got my first positive test! I was in shock and could not believe my eyes. I had just went off BC in July and it was our second cycle trying. I seriously didn't think it would happen so soon but God had other plans for us!
My first test was one I took from work (shhh!), it was a Quick View brand, which just showed a positive or a negative sign. As soon as I took it the plus sign came up and I couldn't believe my eyes! I took a pic of the test and text my best friend, Amy. She wrote me back, "Congrats girl, you're preggo!"
The next day after work I decided to stop by Target and pick up a box (or 2) of pregnancy tests. I got a First Response and a Digital...because I think you have to "see" the word Pregnant for it to sink in. So, I came home and went right upstairs. I was so nervous and excited at the same time.
I peed on the stick and about 2 min later the second line popped up. I think I was in denial, so I took another the next morning, again two pink lines! Friday night rolled around and we had Sadie's graduation from Puppy class so I knew I had to test before we went. I took out the digital, did my thing and a couple min later, the word Pregnant popped up on the test.
We went to our final puppy class and came home to celebrate. When the H brought two beers in (I was sitting on the couch) he popped one open for me and I sat it down on the coffee table. He starts drinking his beer and asks me why I haven't opened my beer yet. I then decided that was the time to tell him the news!
I told him I had something to tell him and I just blurted out, "I'm pregnant!". I had originally wanted to tell him with a cute onsie, but when the time came, I was too excited/nervous I just had to blurt it out!
He was very excited and we hugged and kissed for a bit and he just kept saying how excited he was and he couldn't believe it.
It was a great Friday and to top it all off, Sadie gradutated and got her Diploma!
